Documents

These are some documents I've written to answer questions I often receive from people interested in my work.

Caring for your Heirloom Wood
If you use your heirloom bowl regularly you will need to understand how to care for it so it will last for generations.  This document addresses how to care for your bowl that I've finished with my food quality oil finish process.  It is important to understand that bowls with other finishes such as lacquer or varnish would not be cared for the same way.
Woodturning 100 - Appreciating Quality & Craftsmanship
Some of my customers understand very well how to judge the relative quality of my work and how to compare one artist's work with that of another.  Many, however, do not and have benefitted from some of my thoughts I've included in this summary.
Woodturning 101 - Photo-Reactive Woods
Box elder, a species of maple, will sometimes show spectacular splashes of red.  However, left exposed to ultraviolet light, it will darken and fade.  This document addresses some species I've worked with that exibit color changes for various reasons.
How long does it take to make a bowl?
This answers one of the questions I am asked at almost every exhibit.  Sometimes people want to know about the process.  Sometimes they want to decide if my prices are too high.  This document will help you understand where my time goes when I make a bowl.
